The impact caused extensive damage to the brickwork on the property. Unfortunately, the specific brick used in our client’s home was no longer manufactured, posing a significant challenge.
Our client was left with two options: either replace the damaged bricks with a different type, which would have resulted in a mismatched and unsightly appearance, or replace all the brickwork with a new type of brick that would closely match the original. As you can imagine, the cost of replacing the entire brickwork was considerably higher than simply patching the damaged section.
We argued to the insurance company that replacing only the damaged bricks would leave the home with an inconsistent and unappealing look, and that the only fair solution was to cover the full cost of replacement brick. After several months of negotiations, we produced a contractor’s estimate showing the total cost of repairs to be $37,000, and the insurance company ultimately agreed to settle the claim for $35,000.
Our client was thrilled with the result, as this settlement allowed for the full replacement of the brickwork, restoring the property’s original appearance.
